There may be some biographical information about individuals buried in cemeteries, but this data is generally placed in the Biographical Files
MapsMaps provide direction and information about the landscape. Maps have been produced to show transportation routes, property ownership, building location, environmental characteristics, and other purposes.The historical society has a variety of maps and bird's-eye views of Marion County, especially Salem. These materials, some of which are copies, were produced beginning in the 1870s.

The Marion County Historical Society has a collection of more than 200,000 images and negatives that show buildings, businesses, environment, government, sports, technology, and transportation of Marion County. Some of these photographs have been cataloged and are available to researcher. Reproductions of the cataloged photographs can be made.
