  J.A. Shafer, of Turner, is in the city today on business.
  McKinley Mitchell, of Gervais, is a Salem visitor today.
  Elder Johanneson and J.W. Lake of Woodburn are in the city.
  Mrs. Geo. H. Burnett accompanied by her mother, were passengers for Dallas.
  Mrs. J.P. Goode went to Albany this morning to visit her brother, Mr. Gould.
  Miss Ada Morris, of Albany, has been in this city visiting Miss Genevieve McKinney.
  Homer Smith, the insurance man, came down from Independence this morning.
  Mr. and Mrs. S.M. Gilbert of Newberg are in the city staying at the Cottage Hotel.
  Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Shirley, were passengers for their home in Turner this morning.
  Miss Bessie Miller, who has been in the city visiting Mrs. T.H. Barnes, returned home today.
  Miss Lula Wilson of Newberg, returned home this morning after a several days visit in town.
  H. Heckman and family have returned from Eugene, and will hereafter make their home in this city.
  Clyde Brandenburg, an old-time Salem boy, was shaking hands with friends at the depot this morning. He was en route to Albany.
  W.R. Bishop of Portland, who has been in the city visiting his sons Charles and J.A., left today for a few days visit to Brownsville.
  Barney Simpson, who has been quite ill at his home in South Salem for the past four weeks, is reported slightly improving.
